Last week we sent out a notification about a need for volunteers in Greenbelt, MD. Some of you received it, registered and have already begun serving. Some of you received a page full of mystery code rather than useful information. Here's an updated version:
Volunteers needed NOW through the first week of June
Site Address: Greenbelt Metro Station: 5717 Greenbelt Metro Drive, Greenbelt MD 20740
Mission: FEMA has established a Community Vaccination Center at the Greenbelt Metro Station and is currently giving 3,000 shots per day. FEMA has tasked Maryland VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) with recruiting and managing non-medical volunteers to provide logistical support for the site. Volunteers are essential for providing patients with hospitality, assurance, safety and expedited service.
Maryland/Delaware Baptist Disaster Relief is one of the lead VOAD organizations partnering in this effort.
A total of 30 volunteers are needed each day, 7 days a week for 8 weeks.
Each day is divided into two shifts with 15 volunteers each. Hours will vary, including early morning or evening opportunities. Volunteer roles include greeter, manning the wellness checkpoint, observation, exit guide, and assisting persons with disabilities.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. They do not need to be vaccinated already. They do not need to be DR trained. Church volunteers and friends are welcome to serve.
Those who would like to volunteer can register and sign-up on Maryland VOAD’s DART (Disaster Agency Response Technology) website.
Once on the homepage, please click on the button that says, “Vaccination Center Opportunities," then click on the date and time you would like to volunteer. You will be taken to a page where you can begin the Registration process.
