Email Subject: Volunteers needed NOW; FEMA vaccination site, Greenbelt MD
Email Message (HTML):

Volunteers needed NOW through May 31

Site address: Greenbelt Metro Station: 5717 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, MD.

Mission: FEMA has tasked the Maryland VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster) with recruiting and managing non-medical logistical volunteers to support FEMA's pilot community mass vaccination center in Greenbelt, MD.   Volunteers are needed to provide patients with hospitality, safety and expedited service at the vaccination site that is opening TOMORROW (Tuesday)

Maryland/Delaware Baptist Disaster Relief is one of lead organizations partnering in this effort.

A total of 30 volunteers will be needed daily, seven days per week for the next eight weeks. Each day will be divided into an early shift (15 volunteers) and an afternoon shift (15 volunteers). Hours will vary. Volunteer roles include greeter, wellness check point, observation, exit guide and assisting persons with disabilities.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. They DO NOT need to be DR trained. They DO NOT need to have already been vaccinated. They DO need to practice standard COVID safety protocols while serving.

This is an "all hands on deck" extremely short-notice event. Several other faith groups and non-profit organizations are  working hard to help us reach our collective target of 30 volunteers each day. I will reach out to our BCM/D churches tomorrow.

If you live within an hour of  Greenbelt, please consider volunteering one or more days/shifts. Reach out to friends and those you know who may be able to volunteer.

More information can be found here:  Volunteer Briefing Sheet

This has been a very fast turn-around for FEMA, Baptist Disaster Relief and the MD VOAD community. FEMA is still working out some of details; we are still working out glitches in the signup process. We’re working as fast as we can to make updates; meanwhile stay FLEXIBLE!
