Email Subject: Volunteers needed for flood recovery through end of year
Email Message (HTML):

More volunteers are needed for flood recovery in Prince George’s County!

Thanks to everyone who’s helped with the flood recovery work so far! We’ve completed 7 houses but still have almost 20 more to go.

Our next two immediate workdays will be this Saturday and this coming Monday. Monday is especially important—the homeowners will be staying overnight in a motel while we scrub and sanitize their small ground-level condo unit. We want to get this job done in one day so we’ll need help!

Additional “larger job” workdays are scheduled for every Saturday through the end of the year. Weekday work sessions are also scheduled several times a week through the end of the year.  A limited amount of “DR-style” housing is available at a local church for volunteers needing to spend the night.

Volunteers are needed to help with removing damp drywall and items damaged by the flood, cleaning, mold mitigation and preparing the houses for rebuilding. This response opportunity is open to any Disaster Relief volunteer regardless of previous flood recovery training. Because of the large need for volunteers to get this work finished as soon as possible, church volunteers are also welcome but must be at least 18 years old in order to participate.

Appropriate recovery PPE will be provided each workday and COVID protocols will be followed as much as possible. Type of work and worksite locations will vary by workday. Volunteers will receive information on where to meet and what to bring for the work they will be doing once they sign up for a particular day.

Please reach out and ask church friends to sign up with you--it will help the work go faster and would be a great way to introduce them to Disaster Relief.

If you cannot join us in PG County, please lift up the affected families and the volunteers ministering to them.
