Skycroft Conference Center is having a workday on Saturday, Nov 7 to remove a significant number of damaged trees. Volunteers are needed to cut up trees, drag debris, etc. For every chainsaw operator, we'll need multiple general workers to assist.
Although the workday is open to all of our BCMD churches, Disaster Relief is using this opportunity as an "exercise" for our volunteers. An "exercise" allows us, especially new or inexperienced volunteers, to get some good hands-on practice without the stress of an actual disaster. This exercise is open to all DR volunteers; you do not need previous recovery training.
Date: Saturday, Nov 7
Location: Skycroft Conference Center, 9621 Frostown Rd, Middletown, MD 21769
Time: 8:00 am--5:00 pm (full day or part-day options)
Please bring: your lunch, workboots, gloves, ear and eye protection
Please sign up if you plan to participate so we know how many volunteers to expect.
To sign up, log onto https://md.disasterreliefonline.com and click on "upcoming deployments" in the blue ribbon. From the list, click the title of this exercise and when you get to the signup page, click "add member" below the unassigned personnel box.
NOTE: For those interested in an actual DR deployment, the Hurricane Isaias cleanup Saturdays in New Castle County, DE are continuing for the next few weeks (the county has asked us to do two additional jobs for senior adults in need) For more information or to sign up, please contact Ellen Udovich at firstname.lastname@example.org or 443-250-2555.
